You\u2019re going to want to come prepared.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Know Where You\u2019re Going<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>King of the Hammers takes place in the Johnson Valley OHV area, with Hammertown built on Means Dry Lakebed.&nbsp;<strong>The only way in is off Highway 247 at Boone Road<\/strong>. Do&nbsp;<em>not<\/em>&nbsp;try to enter from the north or through Camp Rock\u2014you\u2019ll either get lost or cross the active racecourse and military base. GPS doesn\u2019t always work out here, so trust the maps we provide and signage on-site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Getting Around the Lakebed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t a music festival\u2014there are no golf carts or shuttle buses. Bring a capable 4&#215;4 or UTV, and know that&nbsp;<strong>dust, rocks, and zero cell service are the norm<\/strong>. Stay on designated roads when spectating. Never drive on or across the racecourse unless instructed by a race official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-background\" style=\"background-color:#080808\"><em><strong>Quick Tip:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cDust Means Danger\u201d \u2013 if you see dust, slow down and assume a vehicle is coming.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Pack Like a Desert Local<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forget \u201cfestival packing.\u201d This is extreme desert off-roading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Must-haves<\/strong>: race radio, flashlight, GPS or mapping app, headlamp, plenty of drinking water, food, shade, recovery gear, fire extinguisher, and layered clothing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bonus survival gear<\/strong>: ear protection (race rigs are LOUD), extra fuel, and a printed spectator map (you&nbsp;<em>could&nbsp;<\/em>&nbsp;lose service).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-background\" style=\"background-color:#080808\"><em>Pro tip: Hammertown gets hot by day and freezing at night. Dress in layers like you&#8217;re in the mountains.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Safety Is Not a Suggestion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Respect the Hammers is more than a hashtag\u2014it\u2019s a culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stay 150 feet away<\/strong>&nbsp;from the racecourse at all times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never stand on the outside of a turn or downhill from an obstacle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t stack or remove rocks from the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t be that guy<\/strong>: No fireworks, no high-speed driving through camp, and no tailgating\u2026 unless you&#8217;re racing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-background\" style=\"background-color:#080808\"><em><strong>Helmets are the law<\/strong>&nbsp;in all UTVs\u2014driver&nbsp;and&nbsp;passengers, even at low speeds.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">W<strong>hat to Expect in Hammertown<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendors. Autograph signings. Night racing.Music. Food trucks. fire pits. The vibe is high energy but respectful.
